Talks with Sosa is a public speaking and event series founded in 2018 by Sosa Eweka-Valentine—a registered nurse, journalist, and mental health advocate. With a strong focus on mental health awareness and destigmatization, Talks with Sosa creates safe, intentional spaces for open conversations around emotional well-being, healing, and resilience.
Rooted in the mission to “stop the stigma,” the series brings together therapists, advocates, creatives, and people with lived experience to explore complex and often unspoken realities surrounding mental health—particularly within immigrant and marginalized communities.
Since its first event in Surrey, BC, Talks with Sosa has grown into a trusted platform for:
- Challenging stigma around mental health
- Highlighting culturally relevant perspectives
- Empowering individuals with tools for healing
- Fostering honest, communal dialogue
Through panels, storytelling, fireside chats, and creative expression, Talks with Sosa invites people to name their struggles and reclaim their voice—because mental wellness should never be a solitary journey.
