Ihunmehai ‘Ihums’ Isaac is a Nigerian-born, New York-based multidisciplinary creator whose work spans the worlds of storytelling, editing, and cultural empowerment. With a unique voice rooted in both West African and diasporic experiences, she uses film, media, and education to reimagine how stories by and for underrepresented communities are told.
Ihums has worked on award-winning documentaries, including TikTok, Boom, and recently, Oscar shortlisted Union. She was recently part of a prestigious Netflix x Industry Standard Fellowship, a program dedicated to empowering rising talent in film and television, where she was sharpening her skills in the editorial track.
With a Master’s degree in media management from The New School in New York, Ihum’s expertise spans creative producing, video editing, and digital strategy. She has contributed to projects with BBC Studios, Radical Media, Netflix and Dakoit Pictures, often serving as the connective tissue between story and audience, working in the capacity of Editor, Assistant Editor and Content Strategy
Beyond her production credits, Ihums is the founder of the Only Girl Foundation, a nonprofit initiative aimed at empowering Black women through digital literacy, creative entrepreneurship, and community-driven learning.
From Benin to Lagos to New York, Ihums career has been a testament to resilience, vision, and the radical power of authenticity. Whether she’s editing a documentary, mentoring aspiring storytellers, or speaking to global audiences, her mission is clear: to create work that not only informs and inspires.
In addition to her creative work, Ihums is a passionate educator. She has served as a guest lecturer in media studies courses for several semesters at the New School, New York where she teaches post-production workflows and management with a clarity and depth that consistently surpasses expectations. Her lectures are valued not only for their practical insight but for the mentorship and real-world context she brings to the classroom.
